Overview/Content
This course is designed to meet the needs of the
WHS Act and Regulations; Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and Regulations
Ministerial Order 706 – Anaphylaxis Management in Victorian Schools
Children’s Services Regulations 2020 (Victoria) and
Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011
Aligned to the requirements of children services and schools and a variety of industry sectors for the understanding of the first aid management of Anaphylaxis.
Learning Objectives
This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to handle allergic/anaphylactic emergency situations in the workplace. It includes:
• Understanding and confirming allergic reactions and respond to the situation
• ASCIA Anaphylaxis Action Plans
• Manage an allergic reaction/anaphylaxis using an adrenaline autoinjector
• Provide appropriate first aid response for allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
• Request assistance and communicate details of the incident
• Evaluate response to the anaphylaxis emergency incident
• Responsibilities of individuals and employers in accordance with Anaphylaxis Policy, Guidelines and Legislation
• Develop and review individual anaphylaxis management plans
• Develop and review strategies to minimise the risk of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
• Develop a communication plan to provide information about anaphylaxis and the organisation’s management policy

Nil
Delivery Mode
Face to Face 3.5 hours full face to face learning and assessment in the classroom
Blended mode online and 1.5 hours face to face in the classroom.
Qualification Issued
After successful completion of this course a Statement of Attainment will be issued for the Course 22578VIC inclusive of:
VU23090 – Provide first aid of anaphylaxis
VU23091 – Develop risk minimization and risk management strategies for anaphylaxis
Certificate Validity
The Certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue
It is recommended by some industries to refresh the VU23090 Provide first aid management of anaphylaxis annually
