Overview/Content
Respond to an emergency situation
Apply appropriate First aid procedures
Communicate details of the incident
Review the incident
Learning Objectives
- Perform CPR on adult/infant (on floor/firm surface) manikins and use Automatic External Defibrillator(AED) and give a shock
Responding appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
Manage casualties with medical conditions such as;
Anaphylaxis
Asthma
Non-life threatening bleeding
Minor wound cleaning and dressing
Nose bleeds
Choking
Shock
Envenomation, using pressure immobilisation
Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, using appropriate immobilisation techniques such as bandages and slings
Responded to conditions simulated to a workplace/community setting
Obtain consent, identification of history, signs and symptoms, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while providing appropriate treatment and monitoring the casualty
Conveying details of incident to emergency services or advising casualty on any post incident action
Providing an accurate verbal and written report of incident and review

More About This Course
Language, literacy and numeracy requirements are needed to undertake this course.
Specifically, students need the ability to:
•Be able to complete simple forms and reports
•Verbally communicate important details of an incident.
•Read guidelines for resuscitation.
Age 14 and above, with ages 14-16 years with parental consent
Completing online registration and knowledge evidence of this course
*It is important to note that the HLTAID competency standards do require a level of physical ability to meet the evidence requirements for assessment. These standards relate to the level of performance required to provide resuscitation and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life.
