Course Description
Overview/Content
Learning Objectives
-Perform CPR on adult/infant (on floor/firm surface) manikins and use Automatic External Defibrillator(AED) and give a shock
-Responding appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
-Manage casualties with medical conditions such as; Anaphylaxis -Asthma
-Non-life threatening bleeding
-Minor wound cleaning and dressing
-Nose bleeds
-Choking
-Shock
-Envenomation, using pressure immobilisation
-Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, using appropriate immobilisation techniques such as bandages and slings
-Responded to conditions simulated to a workplace/community setting
Obtain consent, identification of history, signs and symptoms, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), while providing appropriate treatment and monitoring the casualty
– Conveying details of incident to emergency services or advising casualty on any post incident action
-Providing an accurate verbal and written report of incident and review

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements are needed to undertake this course.
Specifically, students need the ability to:
•Be able to complete simple forms and reports
•Verbally communicate important details of an incident.
•Read guidelines for resuscitation.
Age 14 and above, with ages 14-16 years with parental consent
Completing online registration and knowledge evidence of this course
*It is important to note that the HLTAID competency standards do require a level of physical ability to meet the evidence requirements for assessment. These standards relate to the level of performance required to provide resuscitation and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life.

How long does a first aid course take to complete?
The duration varies by course type. For example:
- CPR courses typically take less than an hour practical session with a bit of online reading and multiple choice questions.
- Provide First Aid courses, are a little longer taking a little over 4 hours with online reading and multiple choice questions.
Can I book a first aid course onsite for my workplace?
Yes, we offer tailored workplace first-aid training. Our experienced trainers can come to your location for group bookings.
How long is a Level 2 First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate valid for?
The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid qualification is valid for 3 years. However, the CPR component (HLTAID009) within it must be renewed every 12 months.
Does HLTAID011 include CPR?
Yes, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid includes the unit HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
How much does a first aid/CPR course cost?
The cost depends on the course type. The Provide First Aid Course full cost is $119 with specials often occuring. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Is HLTAID011 the same as Level 2 First Aid?
Yes, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the current nationally recognised standard that replaces the older Level 2 First Aid and Senior First Aid courses and HLTAID003.
