The HLTAID003 Provide First Aid refresher course is for those people that have completed a first aid course previously and their certificate is still current.
If your certificate is still in date, you already have the current knowledge evidence so you just have to attend a practical session to demonstrate your practical competence & complete a brief online questionnaire. If you have previously completed this with anyone other than Emergency First Aid, please send your current certificate to [email protected].
Those with an ‘out of date’ certificate
Regardless of your ability or the number of times you have completed a first aid course in the past, you will still need to complete a 100 question challenge quiz; scenario based online or written assessment and attend a one day practical session.
In addition to CPR, participants in this course will learn how to assess situations, look for signs of life and how to treat breathing emergencies like choking and asthma. Additionally individuals will be taught how to look after an unconscious person as well as how to treat victims of shock, poisoning, burns, bites and allergic reactions.
Nationally accredited, this course consists of 2 parts, 1 theory and 1 practical. The theory component can be done online or as a workbook, and takes between 1 1/2 – 2 hours to complete. The practical component is classroom based and generally runs between 9.15am and 3.30pm.
Whilst there are no prerequisites for this course, current industry standard is for this course to be updated every 3 years with the CPR component being updated every 12 months.
