Are you ready to take your first aid skills to the next level? Our HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid course is designed to equip you with the expertise to respond confidently to medical emergencies, whether in the workplace, community, or high-risk environments.
The Nationally Recognised Provide Advanced First Aid course covers both basic First Aid and CPR as well as the comprehensive training required for more advanced emergency situations.
Starting with the basics and then moving onto the advanced skill and techniques you’ll be
completing:
• Adult and infant resuscitation manikins following ARC guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures through single and team coordination during CPR
• The use adrenaline auto-injector training device
• AED training devices including high performance CPR
• Using haemostatic dressings to pack life threatening bleeds
• Administer Asthma first aid through a placebo bronchodilator and spacer device
• Use tourniquets to manage arterial bleeds
• Different types of wound treatment to get familiar with workplace first aid kits
• blankets and items to treat for shock
• personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Complete workplace injury, trauma or illness record, or other applicable workplace or site incident report form, following a multiple casualty scenario and use immobilisation
and extrication equipment
• Monitor vital signs of casualties during treatment including temperature
• Learn in a dynamic environment, where interactive demonstrations and simulated
incidents prepare you for actual situations.
Learning Objectives
This hands-on, practical training goes beyond the basics, ensuring you can effectively manage real-world emergency scenarios, including:
Unconscious Casualty Management – Learn how to position a breathing casualty to prevent airway compromise and confidently perform CPR on adults and infants following Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
Advanced Resuscitation Techniques – Gain experience in two-rescuer CPR, AED operation, and responding to regurgitation or vomiting while ensuring minimal interruptions to compressions. We call it High Performance CPR
Emergency Response to Medical & Trauma Incidents – Develop the skills to identify and treat a wide range of medical emergencies, including:
• Anaphylaxis & Asthma
• Choking & Non-life-threatening Bleeding
• Shock & Severe Bleeding (including tourniquets & haemostatic dressings)
• Fractures, Dislocations, Sprains & Strains
• Envenomation (snake/spider bites) & Minor Wound Care
Simulated Crisis Response – Test your decision-making in realistic first aid scenarios, where you must quickly assess a casualty with no prior knowledge of their condition. You’ll conduct secondary surveys, check vital signs, provide immediate treatment, and communicate effectively with emergency services.
Team Leadership in Emergencies – Learn how to coordinate a team in multiple casualty incidents, perform basic triage, and safely extract casualties using the appropriate techniques and equipment.
Emergency First Aid isn’t about ticking boxes —it’s about gaining real, practical experience so you can step up when it matters most. Whether you’re a workplace first aider, safety officer, or simply someone who wants to be prepared for any situation, this training will give you the confidence and skills to make a difference.
Prerequisites
There are no pre-requisites for the HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid course.
Participants are however required to have a minimum level of Literacy and Numeracy to be allowed admittance to this course.
Please notify us if you have any medical conditions or special needs that may prevent you completing all practical assessments. This includes performing single and team rescuer CPR on a resuscitation manikin placed on the floor for a minimum of 2 minutes for each
scenario.

Online Component to be completed prior to attending training.

Certificate Validity
It is recommended renew the HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support certificates every 3 years.
It is recommended to renew the HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate annually.
