Course Content

This short course is designed for clients that require the skills and knowledge in dealing with and managing an allergic/anaphylactic reaction within their workplace. In particular, the course is aimed at those in the childcare, schools and workplaces, but could also be for family members of someone who has been diagnosed at risk of an allergic/anaphylactic reaction

Learning Objectives

This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to handle allergic/anaphylactic emergency situations in the workplace. It includes:
• Signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction/anaphylaxis
• Common allergies
• Manage an allergic reaction/anaphylaxis
• Use of an Auto-injector
• Anaphylaxis Action Plans
• Responsibilities of individuals and employers in accordance with Anaphylaxis Policy and legislation
• Risk assessment strategies

Prerequisites:

No minimum education standard is set as a prerequisite to entry to this course.

Qualification(s) Issued:

Students who have been assessed as meeting the requirements outlined in the packaging rules for this qualification will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for 10710NAT Course in Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness.

Certificate Validity:

The Certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue
